UB Rugby Prospective Student Athlete Day October 28th.


The University at Buffalo Rugby program will be holding a special day of events for prospective student athletes and their parents on Saturday, October 28th 2017.

If you are a high school student that is seeking a challenging academic environment and the opportunity to play rugby at the highest level of collegiate competition you should consider UB.

Founded in 1846, The University at Buffalo is the flagship institution in the State University of New York system. As the largest and most comprehensive campus in the 64-campus SUNY system UB is a premier research-intensive public university dedicated to academic excellence.

The University at Buffalo Rugby program strives to maintain these same standards of excellence. Founded in 1966, the club has established a winning tradition ever since and is one of the longest tenured clubs on campus. UB Rugby now competes at the highest level of collegiate competition in USA Rugby’s D1A Rugby East Conference.

Join us on Saturday October 28th for the following:

· 9:00 am Campus Tours: North Campus

· 11:00 am Campus Tours: South Campus

· 12:00 pm South Campus: Diefendorf Annex - UB Rugby Program Overview. Learn about our player development strategy and strength & conditioning program with Head Coach Mike Hodgins and S&C Coach Dr. Dave Hostler. There will also be a Q & A session on anything pertaining to UB Rugby.

· 4:30 pm North Campus: UB Rugby Alumni Association pre-game tailgate

· 6:00 pm North Campus: UB Rugby vs. University at Albany at Kunz Stadium. Come see the UB Rugby Bulls in action under the lights!

Optional: Friday October 27th

· Admissions visits

· Shadow a Rugby Player Day - If you have a particular major you would like to explore we will match you up with a current undergraduate student/athlete for a walk around and classroom visit.

As a member of the powerhouse Rugby East conference we regularly compete with some of the top programs in the country as well as against teams in the Big 10, MAC, Ivy League, and other conferences.

With over 50 players, UB Rugby is one of the largest clubs on campus and currently fields three complete sides every week including a development team. We primarily focus on fifteens in the fall with sevens and development 15’s in the spring.

First XV Scholarship

The UB Rugby Alumni Association (UBRAA) is a NY State registered 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation whose mission is to create a legacy that ensures UB Rugby to remain competitively successful and that the program continues to deliver a professional image for years to come. As part of that mission, the UBRAA has graciously provided us with scholarship support to be awarded each year to an incoming freshman rugby player.
