The UB Rugby Alumni Association hosted Parents Weekend and presented our 2021 First XV Scholarship as UB Rugby's recent home match against SUNY Oswego.
On a beautiful WNY fall afternoon, the day began with UBRAA President Pete Mancuso and board member Mickey McGuire presenting the first side with their jerseys. Up next was the main event with the UB Rugby Bulls hosting SUNY Oswego in a Liberty Conference Upstate division match. While Oswego held the ball for long stretches, they were unable to break thru the strong UB defense while the Bulls dotted down five tries for a 29-11 bonus point win. Not to be outdone, the Bulls B side remained undefeated after shutting out their Owsego counterparts 32-0.
The UBRAA provided food and refreshments for the teams and parents during the day, and was represented by several current and former board members. There were also many UB Rugby alumni and their families in attendance.
At the conclusion of the day's matches, Mancuso gave the team and fans a brief update on the recent achievements and future plans of the organization and presented our First XV Scholarship winner Ashton "Ash" Mallach with his award.
