UB Rugby celebrated the past and looked forward to a very bright future at our 2023 Alumni Game hosted by the UBRAA this past weekend in Buffalo.

This years event saw over 60 alumni in attendance, representing 40 plus years of UB Rugby. All told, this year's alumni weekend had over 120 ruggers participate making it one of our most successful weekends ever.

The weekend began on Friday afternoon as the UBRAA Board hosted a lunch for this year's graduating seniors and to present them with their UBRAA Membership pins. The 2023 grads are a special group that steered UB Rugby thru nearly two years lost to the pandemic.

Saturday is a rugby day, and as is usually the case, the undergrads were no match for the powerhouse alumni side, but were gracious in defeat. This year's game may have been the first time in UB Rugby history that a father lined up against his son when Scott Lefkowitz scrummed down opposite his son Michael.

Post match, everyone gathered at Jack Rabbit restaurant to enjoy an evening of food and drink and to induct the 1998-2003 UB Rugby team into our UBRAA Hall of Fame.

UBRAA President Pete Mancuso welcomed '98-'03 UB Rugby members Jake Clancy, Ben Geiss, Tommy Herbert, Russ Hicks, Nick Ingrao, Steve Lanzone, Joe Sadden, Cory Stalker, Boris Weinstein, and Tim Wetter into the UBRAA Hall of Fame. The team accepted the HOF plaque and raised a toast to Trevor Miller '01 who we lost two years ago.

"The highlight of the weekend for me was inducting the UB Rugby teams of 1998-2003 into our Hall of Fame. These men hold a special place in my heart as they were the elder statesmen when I arrived at UB as a freshman in 2003. They taught me the game, looked out for me, and have become my life long friends." - UBRAA President Pete Mancuso

Thanks to UBRAA board member Fred Bressette and UBRAA member and HOF Inductee Tim Wetter for the photographs. The full set of pictures will be posted to our social media accounts and can also be seen at https://www.pottedpalmproductions.com/Sports/Rugby/UB-Rugby/2023
